On Sunday I attended my first Kitchen Tea event, hosted by the lovely bride-to-be Rebecca who is getting married to her fiance Joseph in a few weeks at the start of July. And what a Kitchen Tea party it was! Oatlands House is an elegant Georgian Manor with French inspired interior perfect for weddings and events such as this one (the picturesque grounds and property is a photographers dream). Rebecca had hired out the Rose Suite, and to top it off the weather was sunny and warm.
We arrived an hour early to take advantage of the setting and take some pre-wedding photos of Rebecca and Joseph in the grounds, including the Rose Garden, The Vineyard, The Dome and inside by the fireplace and piano, which all turned out beautifully...
At 12pm the 100 guests started to arrive and were greeted with a cocktail upon arrival and music by a guitarist. They were all armed with beautifully wrapped Myer boxes, containing items for Rebecca and Joseph's soon-to-be marital kitchen. Good job someone had a HiLux to transport them all home! There was even a Dior bag amongst the gifts, which I'm pretty sure was not for the kitchen :)
Rebecca's sisters had arranged fun games for the guests to play, such as 'what's in your purse', guess the number of marshmallows in the jar, and dress the bride - all winners were handed prizes including two pairs of Wanted shoes.
Guests were treated to a sophisticated meal, on the menu for entree: prawn and scallop pasta, main: chicken asparagus and polenta mash, dessert: fruits, cheeses and of course the desserts!! Oh my the cakes - these were definitely the highlight. Rebecca's mum, Helen had gone all out with the doughnut tower and strawberry tower, baklava, and other various sweets which almost looked too amazing to eat (almost!)
